The waterfall sits along the Yamunotri-road side of Mussoorie. The main attraction is the cascade and its valley setting, rather than a long list of separate monuments. Shops and visitor facilities make this a different experience from a remote wilderness waterfall. Keep time to pause at a suitable viewing point and return without rushing the climb or steps.
Mussoorie to Kempty Falls: plan the approach
Uttarakhand Tourism places Kempty roughly 15 km from Mussoorie on the Yamunotri road. Your actual journey depends on the hotel, traffic, parking and the last walking stretch. Ask the driver where the vehicle can wait and where you will meet again. A road distance does not include the time needed to reach the waterfall and return to the vehicle.
Timings, entry and optional services
Confirm the current visitor opening and any separate charge for a facility or activity before departure. Do not assume every shop, changing facility or lift/ropeway service operates on the same schedule. Ask what a payment covers and obtain a receipt. A transport quotation covers entry or activities only when those items are expressly listed.
Water, weather and a sensible visiting season
A stronger waterfall after rain is not a reason to approach restricted water or ignore local instructions. Heavy rain can change road access, water flow and slippery surfaces. Choose a daylight visit and be prepared to replace the outing when local conditions are unsuitable. Summer holidays and long weekends may bring queues; a quieter date is more useful than a promised crowd-free time.
Family comfort, footwear and belongings
Use footwear with grip and keep hands free on steps. Carry water, sun/rain protection appropriate to conditions and a small bag you can manage throughout the return walk. Check toilets and a suitable rest point for your actual route. Supervise children closely; a popular bathing area does not establish that entering water is suitable for every visitor.
Combining Kempty with other Mussoorie sights
A short Mall Road walk can be an easier second block than another demanding excursion. George Everest, Landour and Dhanaulti lie on different approaches and each needs its own travel and walking allowance. Choose the stop that fits your base and departure time. Leave the final afternoon flexible if the next stage is a long road journey.

Start with the wider destination guide and the exact pickup, visit and final-drop addresses. Delhi-origin travel needs its own arrival and departure allowance; a local sightseeing block does not include the whole road journey from Delhi.
For a smaller party, compare car rental with a driver. Families or groups can compare Tempo Traveller rental and Urbania rental using actual seats, luggage and the final approach. For larger groups, bus rental also needs suitable turning and parking space. A large vehicle may require a separate final local transfer.
Confirm tolls, parking, taxes, driver allowance, duty hours, distance basis and waiting or extra-night charges in writing. Transport does not itself include admission, guides, activity permits, religious services or official registration.
