Agra, Mathura & Vrindavan
3 days / 2 nights
Combine Agra’s Mughal monuments with the temple towns of Braj in three days. This Agra Mathura Vrindavan tour from Delhi uses one night in each region, allowing a Taj Mahal visit and a focused pilgrimage without treating every day as a highway excursion.

Plan your agra, mathura & vrindavan journey
Balancing Agra sightseeing and Braj darshan
This three-day combination works because each region has a different role. Use the first afternoon for Agra Fort, the next morning for the Taj Mahal on an eligible day, and the remaining time for selected Mathura and Vrindavan temples. The Delhi to Agra Mathura Vrindavan package is not designed to include Fatehpur Sikri, a full Govardhan parikrama and all Braj towns as well. Those additions need more nights or the replacement of another visit.
Match the route to closures and temple sessions
The Taj Mahal is closed to general visitors on Friday. Check that before arranging hotel nights; changing only the departure hour will not solve a closed visiting day. Braj darshan also depends on current sessions and queues. Prem Mandir’s evening setting may appeal to some groups, but it means a later local schedule and should be chosen consciously. State the actual temple list, tickets, local transfers and guiding in the proposal. Keep the last day’s Delhi arrival flexible and avoid an onward flight immediately after drop-off.
From arrival to departure
3-day Agra, Mathura & Vrindavan itinerary
A suggested sequence, adjusted before booking for opening days, connections, local access and your group’s pace. Arrival-day activities are conditional on the actual arrival time.
Delhi to Agra and the fort
Drive to Agra with a meal break, check in according to hotel policy and visit Agra Fort. Keep time for the courtyards and a relaxed evening. Confirm the Taj entry day and guide arrangement before the next morning.
Overnight: Agra
Taj Mahal and onward to Mathura
Visit the Taj Mahal on a non-Friday morning, then have breakfast and check out. Drive to Mathura for the agreed temple sessions, allowing time for security. Continue to the overnight base and select one later visit if the group is comfortable.
Overnight: Mathura / Vrindavan
Vrindavan and Delhi return
Choose Banke Bihari or the family’s priority temple for the first session. Add another nearby visit only if queues and walking allow. Have lunch and return to Delhi. An evening temple visit can be requested but changes the return window.
Finish: Delhi drop-off
Route distances and practical travel allowances
| Journey | Approximate road distance | Planning allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Delhi–Agra | 210–240 km | 4–5 hours |
| Agra–Mathura | 55–70 km | 1.5–2 hours |
| Mathura–Vrindavan | 12–20 km | 40–75 minutes |
| Vrindavan–Delhi | 160–180 km | 3.5–5 hours |
Pickup address, road choice, hotel approach, security, traffic, fog, breaks and local restrictions can change the journey. Reconfirm the transfer plan before departure and leave additional time for an onward flight or train.
Choose your stay and travel season
Hotel areas and access
An Agra hotel with convenient monument transfers supports the first night. For the second, choose Mathura or Vrindavan based on your priority evening visit and parking approach. Confirm that luggage is handled sensibly between checkout and temple visits.
Best time and seasonal trade-offs
October–March usually suits both monuments and temple walks. Winter fog affects highway and Taj visibility, while Braj festival dates can alter access. In summer, use earlier sightseeing and a shaded midday rest instead of an uninterrupted outdoor day.
Hotels, inclusions and a clear trip quotation
Define the core arrangements
- Named hotels and room categories for: Agra · 1 night; Mathura / Vrindavan · 1 night.
- Delhi road return: identify the vehicle and transfer scope.
- Passenger and luggage capacity, driver allowances, tolls, parking and taxes.
- Breakfast or other meals, occupancy, child policy and check-in/check-out terms.
Itemise optional experiences
- Monument tickets, local guides and language requirements.
- Local e-rickshaws, pedestrian-area transfers and luggage assistance.
- Extra monuments, religious services, tastings and additional local visits.
- Upgraded rooms, extra nights, personal purchases and meals outside the agreed plan.
These are booking checkpoints, not automatic inclusions. The accepted written proposal confirms the services purchased. Review the booking and cancellation policy, payment schedule and route-change terms before confirming.
Pricing depends on dates, group size, rooms, hotel location and the services chosen. Request an itemised total with taxes and optional charges rather than comparing an unexplained starting rate. Availability and access arrangements must be checked for your actual travel dates.
Agra, Mathura & Vrindavan: frequently asked questions
Can we include Fatehpur Sikri in three days?
It adds a separate excursion. Extend the trip or replace a sightseeing session rather than assuming it fits automatically.
Why is there a Braj overnight?
It allows temple visits around opening sessions and avoids rushing from the Taj Mahal directly back to Delhi.
What happens if day two is Friday?
The Taj visit must move to a feasible non-Friday session or the travel dates must change.
Are monument tickets and temple expenses the same type of inclusion?
No. Monument entry, guides, local transfers and any separately requested religious services should be individually explained.
Is this route suitable for seniors?
It can be paced more gently, but monument walking, temple steps and queues remain. Share actual access needs before choosing hotels and stops.
